I analyze holographic entanglement entropy in the limit of a large number of dimensions D, which, as I show, corresponds to nearly critical low-dimensional theories via dimensional reduction. By combining analytic expressions computed separately near the boundary and near the horizon of a black hole geometry, I obtain a smooth description of entanglement entropy for strips. Notably, beyond the well-known leading order term, the first subleading correction at large strip length can be obtained analytically when D is also taken large. I discuss extensions of this result to other entangling regions.
